Your Life Path Number, plus your name's Expression Number in both Pythagorean and Chaldean systems.

How this works

Numerology is the practice of reducing dates and names to single-digit (or master) numbers and reading meaning into the result. Your Life Path Number comes from your birth date: the month, day, and year are each reduced separately (repeatedly summing their digits until a single digit remains, except for the master numbers 11, 22, and 33, which are traditionally left unreduced), then the three results are added together and reduced once more to give your final Life Path Number.

Your name gives a second number, usually called the Expression or Destiny Number, by mapping each letter to a numeric value and summing the total. There are two widely used letter-to-number systems, and they don't agree: the Pythagorean system (the more common one in Western/modern numerology) assigns 1-9 sequentially through the alphabet, repeating every nine letters. The Chaldean system is older, assigns values 1-8 based on each letter's traditional sound-vibration, and deliberately leaves no letter mapped to 9, treating it as a number too complete to assign.

Because the two systems use different letter values, the same name can produce two different Expression Numbers — neither is more "correct" than the other; they're two separate traditions with their own internal logic, which is why we compute and show both rather than picking one.

Numerology sits outside TaraQi's core Vedic × BaZi engine, but it's a useful complementary lens, especially for naming decisions (baby names, business names) where people often want a numeric cross-check alongside astrological timing. Your Life Path Number pairs naturally with your Vimshottari dasha chapter and BaZi Day Master for a fuller self-understanding picture — see your free full chart for both.
